THE VICE CHANCELLOR

Prof. Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa, a Professor of Educational Technology, was born on 5th March 1965. He is a native of Ado-Ekiti. He holds a Bachelor of Education degree in History, a Master’s degree in Educational Technology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Advertising, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. He started his lectureship at the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti in 1989 and he joined the Ekiti State University (then Ondo State University) in 1990. He rose through the ranks to become a Professor in 2009. He delivered his Inaugural Lecture titled Learning Problems and the Technology of Education on the 5th of March 2013.

Prof. Adeoluwa has sixty-nine (69) publications to his credit. He has presented two Keynote Addresses and three Lead Papers at Academic Conferences. He has also successfully supervised twenty (20)Ph.D candidates and twenty-two (22) Masters candidates in the fields of Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, and Social Studies. He is also an External Moderator and Examiner to seven (7) Colleges of Education and nine (9) Universities including the University of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for the moderation of Bachelor’s Degree examinations, M.Ed, M.Phil and Ph.D. examinations as well as assessment of publications for staff promotion cases. He was also, in 2017, a visiting Professor at AdekunleAjasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

In Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Prof. Adeoluwa had been a member of more than eighty-five (85) Boards and Committees, forty (40) of which he was the Chairman. He was Head of the Department three times, Assistant Director of the Sandwich Programme, and also Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Education. He also served on the University Governing Council as a member representing Congregation. He was appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) in 2014 and he held the position for two years during which he acted as Vice-Chancellor of the University between 14th and 29th September 2015. He has received several commendations and awards from bodies within and outside the University and as a personal social responsibility project, he planted 150 stalks of Step Tree to create a Resort Arena on the University Campus.

Prof. Adeoluwa is widely travelled and has profound professional experience in teaching and research. He was appointed Provost of the defunct College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti in September 2019 and worked assiduously with the College Governing Council to bring to fruition the vision of having the College upgraded to a University. Following the upgrade of the College to the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, he was appointed on 6th January 2021 as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University.

He is happily married to Bola Adeoluwa and the union is blessed with children.

VISION/MISSION OF THE VICE-CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE

The vision of the University is to be an international University, recognized and noted for innovation and self-reliance, projecting culturally sound and disciplined researchers and products committed to learning for gainful engagement for the proper education of the total man. Therefore, the vision of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office is to see to the fulfillment of this, using some strategies considered necessary.
 
The mission of the Vice-Chancellor’s office is in tandem with the mission of the University i.e to generate, disseminate, and advance knowledge and to ensure that students are educated in Science and Technology with the aim of bringing the knowledge to finding solutions to the major challenges facing the society and the world’s challenges in the 21st century.

ACTIVITIES BEING CARRIED OUT BY THE VICE-CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE

  1. The Vice-Chancellor’s Office oversees the administrative system of the University and coordinates the general affairs of the various Divisions in the University.
  2. The Department liaises with external bodies like TETfund, NUC, FERMA, NITDA, e.t.c to ensure that the University achieves its stated objectives.

OBJECTIVES VICE-CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE

  1. To create enabling environment for an effective teaching/learning process.
  2. To provide adequate teaching facilities.
  3. To train manpower.
  4. To create room for research activities e.g organizing conferences, and sponsorship on conferences/Workshops.
  5. To collaborate with other international organizations.
  6. To enhance the healthy relationships between the University and the host community and the larger society.
