Prof. Oluyede Adeleke Aturamu, born in the mid-sixties, hails from Igede-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria. He completed his secondary education at Gboluji Anglican Grammar School, Ile-Oluji, in 1981 and then attended the Federal School of Arts and Science, Ondo, where he completed his Advanced Level School Certificate Examination.
Prof. Aturamu’s career in academia spans several decades. He began as an Assistant Lecturer in Agricultural Economics at the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti in 1993 and rose through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer in 2011. He served as Deputy Provost and a member of the Management Team at the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti for two terms from October 2014 to September 2018. He represented the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti at the Office of Transformation, Strategy, and Delivery (OTSD), Ekiti State from February 2019 to 2020. Since 2013, he has been an external examiner and moderator for the Department of Agricultural Education at Adeyemi College of Education.
With the transition of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti to Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti in 2020, Prof. Olu Aturamu became a Professor of Agricultural Economics in 2024. His research interests include sustainable agriculture, technology adoption concerning the socio-economic characteristics of farmers, econometric analysis within the agricultural sector in southwestern Nigeria, and environmental economics. He has published eight books, and fifty-one of his works have been published in reputable journals.
Olu Aturamu is a Fellow of the International Association of Research Scholars and Administrators and a member of several other professional organizations, including the American Agricultural Economics Association, International Agricultural Economics Association, Association of University Administrators, and the Teacher’s Registration Council of Nigeria.
He has held numerous administrative positions within the university. He was the Acting Head of the Department of Entrepreneurial Studies at Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, from August 2023 to July, 2024. He has been a member of the University’s Governing Council and its Finance and General Purpose Committee since January 2021. He has also been a member of the Senate since January 2021. Previously, he served as Acting Dean of the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology and Acting Dean of the School of Vocational and Entrepreneurial Studies. He was the Pioneer Director of the Centre for Research and Development at the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, and Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti. He served on the Strategic Development Committee and many other committees, making significant contributions to the university.
Beyond the university, Olu Aturamu was a member of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, from April 2017 to March 2021. He chaired the FUTA Governing Council Review Committee on the Scheme of Service of Administrative and Professional Staff in October 2020. He has also consulted for the World Bank/Ekiti State FADAMA Development Project.
Olu Aturamu is a high-ranking officer of Rotary International. He was the President of the Rotary Club of Akure from 2007 to 2008 and served as Assistant Governor for Rotary International District 9125 from July 2020 to 2023. He is now a Zonal Coordinator for District 9126 and a Paul Harris Fellow.
Prof. Aturamu enjoys serving humanity, playing golf and tennis, listening to music, and traveling. He is a Christian and is happily married with children.
