MONARCH APPLAUDS OYEBANJI FOR UPHOLDING MERIT IN THE APPOINTMENT OF BOUESTI VC

The Olusi of Usi-Ekiti, Oba George Adedayo Akande, has commended the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for upholding merit and transparency in the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI).

The monarch gave the commendation while receiving the new Vice-Chancellor, Andrew Babatunde Omojola, in his palace. Professor Omojola, an indigene of Usi-Ekiti, was recently appointed as the second substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University after emerging first among sixteen professors who vied for the position, following what was widely described as an outstanding performance during the interview exercise.

Oba Akande, flanked by members of the Olusi-in-Council and prominent sons and daughters of Usi-Ekiti, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Adeniyi Adebayo, congratulated the new Vice-Chancellor and described him as a worthy ambassador of the community. Recalling their earlier conversation, the monarch disclosed that when Professor Omojola informed him of his intention to apply for the position, he encouraged him to proceed and assured him of his prayers and royal support. He expressed gratitude to God that the process ended successfully and praised the Governor for recognising excellence and rewarding merit.
The royal father charged Professor Omojola to justify the confidence reposed in him by ensuring that BOUESTI ranks among the leading universities in Nigeria during his tenure.

In his response, Professor Omojola, who was accompanied by members of the University’s management team, described the visit as a symbolic homecoming and an opportunity to receive royal blessings. He expressed deep appreciation to the monarch for his prayers, encouragement and moral support before and after his appointment.

The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the pivotal role of traditional rulers in promoting peace, stability and community development, noting that such support remains indispensable to the smooth administration of the University. He reaffirmed BOUESTI’s commitment to academic excellence, institutional growth, infrastructural expansion and impactful community service through its study centres across the state, adding that plans are underway to establish a satellite campus in Usi-Ekiti.

In his goodwill message, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Adeniyi Adebayo, described Professor Omojola’s appointment as a remarkable achievement and urged him to sustain the momentum of excellence while contributing meaningfully to the advancement of education in Ekiti State.
